Spoak Wave II - Bright Bright Death
I have always loved the idea of creating my own clothing range so with hardly any money to my name I tried it! "Spoak Clothing" as most of my personal projects are, was an idea very close to my heart. When my Grandpa died, I decided that funerals and mourning were just all together to dingy and black. Death is not a nice thing to cope with but we do need to live with it, if you'll excuse the irony, so I had the thought of making my brand based on the idea that instead of mourning the end we should celebrate that there's a beginning! Bright Bright Death. I created all the designs and the website myself and I did all my own marketing, in hindsight, that may be one of the things I would definitely do different next time. Bright Bright Death did enjoy some success, we managed to get to number 1 on the google search for Spoak, generate a small profit, get our range into a small shop in Edinburgh. In the end we did fail, I just didn't have enough money to keep it alive, but I did learn a great deal about the business world and about myself as a designer.
